On Monday, Motorola Solutions introduced the SVX, a cutting-edge device designed to streamline emergency response and evidence collection for first responders. Combining a remote speaker microphone, body camera, and an AI assistant named Assist, the SVX aims to help law enforcement officers save time and respond more effectively during emergencies.
As public safety agencies continue to modernize, there’s an increasing demand for solutions that can improve emergency response times and enhance data collection. Motorola Solutions, which already holds a dominant position in the public safety market with over 60 percent of 911 calls in the US routed through its software, is looking to further capitalize on this trend with the SVX.

The SVX is designed to integrate seamlessly with Motorola’s APX NEXT radios, providing real-time data analysis and communication tools for law enforcement officers. The AI assistant, Assist, can process critical information such as vehicle registration numbers and driver’s licenses, providing officers with immediate access to essential data.
One of the key features of Assist is its ability to significantly reduce the time patrol officers spend on basic data entry, which accounts for over 40 percent of their report-writing time. Motorola Solutions expects the device to improve efficiency by streamlining this process.
The SVX was developed in collaboration with 32 public safety agencies and tested by 150 users who provided valuable feedback to shape the final product. “We built this device in collaboration with agencies actively testing and giving us feedback,” said Mahesh Saptharishi, Motorola Solutions’ chief technology officer.
In addition to its product launch, Saptharishi discussed the impact of global trade shifts and US tariffs under President Donald Trump on the company’s supply chain. He noted that electronics manufacturers, including Motorola, are adjusting their supply chains to reduce costs and avoid disruptions, with diversification into countries like Vietnam and Mexico to navigate the changes.

“Our supply chain is a very fluid situation right now. We optimize our manufacturing presence based on what’s required,” Saptharishi added.
