Samsung Electronics is set to release the thinnest Galaxy S series model ever, the “Galaxy S25 Edge,” on May 23. This release is aimed at capitalizing on the growing market demand for thinner and lighter smartphones, with Samsung taking a competitive leap by launching its new product ahead of its rivals to capture market share.

According to industry sources on the 24th, Samsung will host a “Galaxy Unpacked” event on May 13, where details about the Galaxy S25 Edge, including its specifications, color options, and pricing, will be revealed. The Galaxy S25 Edge is being marketed as an innovation in form factor, with a focus on its slim thickness and light weight.

Samsung has invested significant effort into the development of this device, showcasing it at global events such as “Galaxy Unpacked 2025” in January and the “Mobile World Congress (MWC)” in March. As a result, the Galaxy S25 series lineup will expand to include four models, adding the Edge variant to the existing base, Plus, and Ultra models.
The Galaxy S25 Edge will be launched first in South Korea and China on May 23, with pre-orders running from May 14 to 20. Orders will begin shipping between May 21 and 23, while global markets, including the U.S., will see sales starting on May 30. Considering that previous Galaxy S series and Galaxy Z Fold/Flip launches have taken about two weeks after their unveilings, Samsung appears to be accelerating the release of the Galaxy S25 Edge, aiming to get ahead in the “thin phone” race, especially as Apple plans to release the ultra-slim “iPhone 17 Air” in September.
The Galaxy S25 Edge will be priced at 1.5 million KRW for the 256GB model and 1.63 million KRW for the 512GB model. These prices are higher than the Plus model but lower than the Ultra. Notably, a 1TB version will not be available.

The device is expected to have a thickness ranging from 5.8 to 6.4mm and a screen size of 6.7 inches, matching the Plus model. Its camera will feature a 200MP wide-angle lens, but due to the slim design, it will forgo a telephoto lens, instead offering two cameras on the rear. Like the Galaxy S25, the S25 Edge will be powered by Qualcomm’s “Snapdragon 8 Elite” mobile application processor (AP). Samsung will offer a “Double Storage” promotion for pre-orders, allowing customers to double their storage capacity. However, unlike the Galaxy S25, the S25 Edge will not come in any exclusive colors available only through Samsung’s online store.
