Nvidia Unveils DLSS 4: Revolutionizing Graphics with Multi Frame Generation and Advanced AI Models

Nvidia has introduced a major update to its Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology: DLSS 4, which promises to redefine gaming and rendering performance. This latest iteration brings Multi Frame Generation, new transformer-based AI models, and groundbreaking latency-reduction features, setting a new benchmark for GPU technology.

Multi Frame Generation Explained

DLSS 4 introduces Multi Frame Generation (MFG), a transformative feature exclusive to the upcoming RTX 50 Series GPUs. With MFG, Nvidia claims the GPUs can generate up to three additional frames per traditionally rendered frame, multiplying frame rates by up to 8X compared to traditional rendering methods.
This unprecedented frame generation capability makes it possible to achieve 4K resolution at 240fps with full ray tracing—a milestone previously out of reach without compromising performance or visual fidelity.

How It Works

MFG works in harmony with the complete DLSS suite, including Super ResolutionRay Reconstruction, and DLAA, to deliver unparalleled clarity and responsiveness. According to Nvidia, this new frame generation model is 40% faster and uses 30% less VRAM than its predecessor, thanks to its shift from Convolutional Neural Networks to transformer-based AI models.

How Frame Warp Reduces Latency

Frame Warp operates by dynamically adjusting the camera position during rendering. As the GPU processes a frame, the CPU predicts the next frame’s camera position based on the latest mouse or controller input. The rendered frame is then “warped” to match this updated position just before being sent to the display.
This ensures:

Compatibility and DLSS Override Features

Nvidia’s commitment to backwards compatibility ensures that DLSS 4 features will benefit a wide range of GPUs:
