Alright, you can relax—OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R are getting their full four major Android updates as originally promised. That means they’ll receive Android 16, 17, 18, and 19, considering they launched with Android 15.
The confusion started earlier today when a OnePlus US PR rep mistakenly suggested that the out-of-the-box Android 15 would count as one of the four updates. That didn’t make much sense, and thankfully, OnePlus has now clarified that this is NOT the case.
Beyond the OS updates, security patches will continue for six years, which was also part of the initial commitment. While some brands are pushing for longer update cycles, OnePlus argues that four major updates is the right balance for its devices. However, it did extend security updates from 5 to 6 years, offering a little extra longevity.
So, no surprises here—if you own a OnePlus 13 or 13R, you’re getting the updates you were promised.
